About owners

Equinor is a broad energy company with a very rich tradition. In May 2018, it decided to change the name from Statoil to Equinor, thus emphasizing its transformation to one of the largest energy producers. It changes from a company associated with obtaining energy only from crude oil and natural gas to a company using wind and sun, therefore renewable energy sources.

Equinor acquired huge experience in Norway – as the largest operator of oil and gas fields. As a result, it was able to build its position as a leader among the most significant offshore wind farm operators in the world. Moreover, it is the second supplier of natural gas in Europe and covers more than 20% of European gas demand. It employs 21.000 skilled workers in more than 30 countries of the world.

Equinor was present in Poland between 1992 and 2012 as a network of Statoil fuel stations, which was then (2012) sold to Couche-Tard (Circle K) company. Equinor returned to the Polish market in 2018 and engaged in the offshore wind energy sector in the Baltic Sea.

The ambition of Equinor is to strengthen the Norwegian-Polish cooperation by sharing knowledge and experience in order to transform the Polish power sector.
